|Welcome! Getting down to business!|
RULE #1: We accept fanart only from anime series that began AIRING in or before 1986.
Corollary 1- If the anime began in or before 1986, we will accept fanart of later versions of the series. Example: the Original Cutey Honey began in 1973, so we would accept fanart from Cutey Honey Flash, even though it aired in 1997.) This is not because we necessarily WANT to, but because, knowledgeable as we are, the group administrators cannot be responsible for researching every version of every anime.
Addendum: Naturally, fanart of manga that was not made into an anime will not be accepted. For volume purposes, this group is for anime fanart only.
Corollary 2- Unfortunately, we will not accept fanart of a series whose manga began in or before 1986, if the anime began airing later. Example: the City Hunter manga began in 1985, but the anime series didn't air until 1987, so it would not be accepted.
Corollary 3- PLEASE MENTION THE SERIES YOUR WORK IS FROM IN YOUR COMMENTS. If we can't figure it out in order to check the date, it will be declined.
Corollary 4- Crossovers-dress up- You may feature old school characters in modern anime outfits, but not modern anime character in old school outfits. Characters in the piece must be from anime in or before 1986.
Corollary 5- Crossovers-characters- If the work features characters from multiple series, at least one character in the piece must be from anime in or before 1986.
RULE #2: Fanart and Cosplay Only!
Explanation: We will not accept photos of official merchandise, or layouts/themes made from official artwork.
Corollary 1 - We will NOT accept art you did not draw yourself, nor cosplay photos that you didn't either A.) pose in or B.) photograph yourself. These images are STOLEN and we will not tolerate art theft.
RULE #3: Only Standard Quality works accepted- show your best!
Explanation: Submit only finished, quality work. No sketches, no WIP. We will of course be lenient, and don't be discouraged. Just make sure you are submitting your best work! Please do not submit line-art or traced/base works; we will not be able to accept these.
This rule also applies for cosplay; no mirror or goofy pictures please. We look forward to your submission.
These rules are not so that we can be jerks, but to ensure that the administrators have an easy way of keeping everything fair without going crazy.
RULE #4: SUBMIT work to appropriate folder! NOT to featured!
Explanation: Folders are currently organized by year. Submit your work to the 1980's, 1970's, or 1960's(and under) folder. Featured entries will be picked by Administrators if we feel a piece expresses the mission of the group best.
Corollary 1- If your work features characters from multiple decades, you are free to choose- we recommend you decide based on what decade most of the characters are from, or who the main character in the picture is from. Again, this choice is up to you.
RULE #5: SUBMIT no more than 3 images per week
Wikipedia has a good reference guide. Here's a link to 1986, and you can check prior years by using the year links at the top: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category…
If you're using wikipedia to check if your submission is acceptable, be sure to go to the actual series page, and look on the right side of the entry. Check under "Anime" and "original run" for the correct date.
