Group Rules!

Welcome! Getting down to business!

RULE #1: We accept fanart only from anime series that began AIRING in or before 1986.

:bulletyellow:Corollary 1- If the anime began in or before 1986, we will accept fanart of later versions of the series. Example: the Original Cutey Honey began in 1973, so we would accept fanart from Cutey Honey Flash, even though it aired in 1997.) This is not because we necessarily WANT to, but because, knowledgeable as we are, the group administrators cannot be responsible for researching every version of every anime.

Addendum: Naturally, fanart of manga that was not made into an anime will not be accepted. For volume purposes, this group is for anime fanart only.

:bulletyellow:Corollary 2- Unfortunately, we will not accept fanart of a series whose manga began in or before 1986, if the anime began airing later. Example: the City Hunter manga began in 1985, but the anime series didn't air until 1987, so it would not be accepted.

:bulletyellow:Corollary 3- PLEASE MENTION THE SERIES YOUR WORK IS FROM IN YOUR COMMENTS. If we can't figure it out in order to check the date, it will be declined.

:bulletyellow:Corollary 4- Crossovers-dress up- You may feature old school characters in modern anime outfits, but not modern anime character in old school outfits. Characters in the piece must be from anime in or before 1986.

:bulletyellow:Corollary 5- Crossovers-characters- If the work features characters from multiple series, at least one character in the piece must be from anime in or before 1986.

RULE #2: Fanart and Cosplay Only!
:bulletgreen:Explanation: We will not accept photos of official merchandise, or layouts/themes made from official artwork.

:bulletyellow:Corollary 1 - We will NOT accept art you did not draw yourself, nor cosplay photos that you didn't either A.) pose in or B.) photograph yourself. These images are STOLEN and we will not tolerate art theft.

RULE #3: Only Standard Quality works accepted- show your best!

:bulletgreen:Explanation: Submit only finished, quality work. No sketches, no WIP. We will of course be lenient, and don't be discouraged. Just make sure you are submitting your best work! Please do not submit line-art or traced/base works; we will not be able to accept these.

This rule also applies for cosplay; no mirror or goofy pictures please. We look forward to your submission.

These rules are not so that we can be jerks, but to ensure that the administrators have an easy way of keeping everything fair without going crazy.

RULE #4: SUBMIT work to appropriate folder! NOT to featured!

:bulletgreen:Explanation: Folders are currently organized by year. Submit your work to the 1980's, 1970's, or 1960's(and under) folder. Featured entries will be picked by Administrators if we feel a piece expresses the mission of the group best.

:bulletyellow:Corollary 1- If your work features characters from multiple decades, you are free to choose- we recommend you decide based on what decade most of the characters are from, or who the main character in the picture is from. Again, this choice is up to you.

RULE #5: SUBMIT no more than 3 images per week

Wikipedia has a good reference guide. Here's a link to 1986, and you can check prior years by using the year links at the top:…

If you're using wikipedia to check if your submission is acceptable, be sure to go to the actual series page, and look on the right side of the entry. Check under "Anime" and "original run" for the correct date.
Sorry if it's been quiet.  Personal life and all that.  I'll get back to accepting submissions, and if your submissions expired in my off period, please feel free to resubmit.

BUT!  Please remember the following: (also known as, the reason your work was declined is probably in this list)

1.  We only accept three works per week per person.  If you submit more than three, I will accept the first three and decline the rest.  I will no longer send a note explaining why the rest were denied.  Feel free to submit three more in a week.

2.  You cannot submit to featured.  If you submit there, I will decline it.  I will no longer accept it and then go into the gallery to move it.  (Only the Administrators can move things to the featured gallery.  Submit your work to the right dated folder.  We will move works that we think are the most amazing to the featured gallery.)

3. This is for oldschool ANIME.  The anime must have begun to air before 1987.  Not the manga.  If the show your work is from did not BEGIN airing before 1987, I will decline it.  (Sorry, that's just the cutoff we've used.  Dragonball Z fits, but Ranma doesn't.  There are other oldschool groups that have a wider net of their definition "oldschool."  We're just a little older here and are focusing on a more specific time.)

4. If you submit to the wrong folder, I will decline it.  Research the date the show began airing if you're not sure (wikipedia is great for this).  Submit it again to the right folder and I will accept it.

5. If I cannot tell what show your work is from, and thus cannot check the airdate, I will decline it.  You can't assume we know every single series, so if the series isn't in the description, we won't know.

Thanks for your patience.  I'm happy to see the OldSchool Anime love.

Do you guys accept old school manga as well. There are a lot of great old school manga from the 60s,70s and 80s but just never had a chance to be adapted into an anime or may have been adapted into later in the 2000s like Osamu Tezuka's Black Jack and Buddha.

All animes I've seen in my life were made before 1986, so I appreciate the group's choose.

I think I recognize the guy with the silvery helm from an anime. He's using........ the armor of the wildfire.... I know I'm on the right track.
